A whale of a time

Aly de Groot
Aly de Groot’s obsession with box jellyfish started more than ten years ago. Now she’s a full-time fiber artist making sculpture from ghost nets and fishing line, weaving the tragic tale of sea life in the plastic age. A couple of years back, Aly’s obsession saw her sign up to do a PhD in underwater basket weaving but even now, on the eve of finishing, she describes herself as an unlikely student. Tonight she’ll tell us why.

Aly told her story live on Saturday 3 June 2017 at SPUN in Palmerston themed 'Obsession'.
