Music is a universal language...
Janos Kerekes
Janos Kerekes was born in Hungary, and first encountered a didgeridoo in his early teens. He instantly felt a strong connection to the instrument, and over the next few years, he taught himself how to play, often performing on the streets of Budapest. As Janos got older, he started looking into the history and culture of the didgeridoo, which took him on a journey from Eastern Europe to East Arnhem Land, with a few detours along the way.
Janos told his story live on Friday 1 December 2017 at SPUN at Darwin Festival themed 'Rewind' where we rewound back through Darwin’s history to celebrate 60 years of local government, shining a light on the stories that have helped shape this wild, vibrant town into what it is today.
